Post and Beam Construction
|
In post-and-beam construction, vertical posts and horizontal beams are used for strength and wall fill-ins act as braces. Round logs as well as square timbers can be used. The fill-in between posts is either structural insulated panels (styrofoam-like material sandwiched between 4'x8' sheets of OSB or plywood) or a framed construction, finished with many options on the outside and usually drywall or plaster on the inside. We have used post-and-beam together with solid log walls to create an effective hybrid of the two styles. With these building styles, you have your choice of Douglas Fir, Western White Pine or Spruce. |
